xp pro volume licensing question

i bought my xp pro from my school but i lost the cd key thing i had for it, will the key that's on the computers at school be the same one and be legit?

Check with the administrators who sold you the key, its likely different.

well i checked on one computer in one lab then walked down two computer labs and checked another and they were the same key, so i might just try that one..

alot of the times schools purchase 1 license key thats good for lets say 500-1000 computers..they get a bulk deal using 1 key..but...if its been activated, you cannot activate your version you install on your pc..because most likely those 500-1000 computers are exactly the same..internally, if you install it on your home pc and go to activate it and it checks your hardware and its different..it wont let you activate it.

IIRC, MSDNAA gives you unique license keys when you make copies for individual student's.
