xp pro-restore system state

Ok, so i created a backup. Now i wanna mess around with my system. If mess it up, what is the method to get back to that "image" i had backuped?

cause i tried going to restore but it seemed lkike it didnt do anything, it didnt revert back to that image i had. Am i suppose to be in full command prompt mode?
