Is there still no other way to get the XP installer to recognize a SATA RAID array other than to load drivers from floppy (F6 during setup)?

You could possibly create a custom install CD that had the text mode drivers already included.

It just seems unbelievabe that you still need to employ a floppy drive to install an OS with a configuration that is widely used. RAID isn't exactly a rare thing but floppy drives are.

Which has been the most current OS in that market space up until just a few months ago.

I bet if you took a wider look, you'd see the exact opposite of all your comments. First, RAID is a server technology, which isn't used on the desktop very often. Calling RAID1 and XP Pro a widely used configuration isn't really accurate. It's certainly not impossible, but it's far from common on a desktop platform. Also, while we're on the subject of the client/desktop platform, neither floppy drives or RAID1 are common anymore. Floppy drives are becoming extinct, and RAID1 never really had a place on a desktop anyway.

If you really want to run RAID1 on the desktop, and you have a hardware RAID controller, you should be using a floppy drive or following the above advice to slipstream the drivers into your XP disc.

How often do you install?

If it isn't often, it seems like a floppy doesn't hurt much.

If it's often, you'll save lots of time by slipstreaming all your drivers.
