Ok wow something very weird happened to me. I took my comp apart to check something with the fans and to make sure it worked I just plugged it back in real quick and then to turn it off I just help in the power button, which I figured wouldnt be a problem because I didnt have a monitor hooked up to it. But when I did hook everything and turn it back on an error window popped up saying my windows wasnt activated...I didnt get this at all, cause it was JUST working fine. So I couldnt get it to activate over the internet but I did it by phone and it works now but does anybody know what happened and is it a big deal or should everything be fine now??? I could really use some help, Ive never had this happen to me...thanks!!!

I'm not sure what you need help with, considering it's working fine now. Chances are, you bumped some hardware loose. Go through your device manager and make sure everything you have hardware-wise is showing up.

it sounds like what are saying is that that:

1.) the computer was on
2.) you disconnected something that was fine to disconnect - a 3pin fan connection, or something of the sort, from the motherboard
3.) plugged whatever it was you were fudging with, back in
4.) help the power button down to shutdown the machine
5.) re-connected all peripherals
6.) booted back into Windows, and were prompted to re-activate

The only thing that I can figure is that somehow, whatever you temporarily disconnected, caused an intermittant short on the motherboard, resulting in some onboard device turning off, and then back on (after the peripherals were re-connected). It seems unlikely, but I've seen stranger things occur. I would check your board stand-offs, and reseat the board. I agree, strange though.

Yes that is what I did. Though what I unplugged was the cd-rom drive, I figured that would be the easiest thing to do.
