XP policy for network browsing

Forgive me I got a bit lazy and forgot what to change.


I have XP machine, which I want to browse via network, i.e. \\172.16.xxx.xxx\c$


This must be enabled, I forgot what to change. I think its some policy. When I do the above right now it times out, firewall on or off. Now from that machine onto my Vista machine it works, and I didnt change anything in vista. User names on both machines are administrative and have identical user and password.

What do I change?

Hidden shares are enabled by default, and if you have the firewall disabled, or file and print sharing enabled on the firewall, you should be able to access it. Can you ping the computer with the share?
