XP on a vista system?

Hey all,I just got a new laptop and it comes with vista premium. I was wondering If I could format it and put XP pro on it instead without any problems..here are the specs..

Depends on if drivers are available; check the manufacturer's site. Since it's a Dell, you should be fine. YMMV.

Exactly. In the time it took for the OP to type that post, he could have gone to Dell's support site, popped in the service code, and found out for sure if XP was supported or not. My new Latitude D630 came with Vista Basic (cheapest option), but I formatted it and went to XP Pro, from our standard VLK and image. No problems, but I did check to make sure the XP drivers were available.

Almost all of the mainstream system builders are still building out drivers for both OS's you should be good

Bought a laptop from compusa out of buisness sale. had vista. tore it out and installed XP-64.

Why do you want to emulate a good OS inside a crap OS? Obviously the OP wants to use XP because he recognizes it's a better OS.

Last time I made a vista system XP nothing would work..even with me finding the generic
drivers. This was on Sony Viao that the only drivers were for Vista.

It was a major PITA

What did I miss? Where does it say it's a Dell? If it is, should be easy to run XP. I am keeping it on my laptop. I still recommend XP over Vista on a laptop. Better drivers in most cases.

Wow, it just never ends! Maybe he wants to chose a good OS out of two good OS choices? Running XP in a VM is a perfectly valid option. If the OP wants XP, it is a very simple process to check if XP drivers are available. Do we really need to play the ridiculous boo hoo Vista is crap game any longer?

Maybe I didnt think about checking the site to see if they had drivers for XP.Your first sentence here makes me think you are a smart ass.You have only been here 6 months,Dont be like that.

You can certainly try. A lot of OEMs are not spending the money to develop driver for XP on their newest Vista computers.

On the dell site there dont look to be all the drivers for the video card a few other things but Im thinking I can go to the nvidia site and get them.Im going to wait till my laptop gets here before I make a final decision.I want to check out the model #s of the bluetooth and some other things it has first.
