Hi
I have a SONY USB external DVD-RW and I cannot for the life of me get my computer to recognize it. I go into my BIOS setting and it is there... as a Sony DVD-RW. So it's recognized in BIOS but when Windows boots up it doesn't come up in device manager, My Computer, or as an option of a burning program. I tried plugging it into different USB ports but I can't get windows to auto-detect it. It's the same thing when I try plugging in a USB Key or my ipod nano. Can anyone help??

Have you loaded the chipset drivers for your motherboard?

man we need sound effects in the forum...cause I think I just heard the sound of the OP slapping himself

i don't think there's an emoticon i could display that could possibly portray the angst i'm feeling right now...

That angst could be lessened if you would answer the question, so we could suggest other things if that doesn't work.

well... downloading the intel chipset drivers worked. I just assumed they were installed when my computer was built.
Thanks for your help and sorry for being stoo-pid
edit: the angst was due to my own stupidity.
