my hd got some corrupt .dlls I couldn't repair so I opted to get my data off and start over. been meaning to do it anyway.
when I'm trying to install XP on this relatively new Maxtor 250GB drive it seems no matter what XP version/disc I use, what CD drive I use (tried 3), what ribbon cable I use I get this message until BOD:
the xxxxx.dll was not copied correctly
The file setup placed on your hard disk is not a vaild Windows XP systen image. If you are installing from a CD, there may be a problem with the XP CD.
-----------------------------------------------
seems like no matter what legit XP disk I use I get the same random .dll errors during this phase of setup. I'm at my wit's end here. I've swapped all the parts out of this box except the mobo/processor and the problem will not go away.
