I've just tried to format my hard drive, like I usually do I stick in the CD and attempt to boot from the CD.

It came up saying "press any key to boot from the CD" So I clicked a button on my keyboard. My computer then boots into windows from my hard drive! I havent done anything different from how I normally, yet it wont boot into my cd to format/reinstall windows.

Anyone know what the problem is and how to go about fixing it?

More info needed...is it a USB keyboard? If so, you may have to enable legacy USB in the BIOS.

did you change first boot priority in the bios to HD recently????? :D

I changed it from hd to CDrom. As it goes through bios checks, it checks to see if there is a CD - It finds the CD, and asks if i want to boot from it, when i confirm it boots into windows.

This just sounds like it's not recognizing your keyboard, do what djnes told you to, if that's not it you may want to try another keyboard or, if all else fails, another install disk if you have one handy.

Sorry I didnt post earlier..

I tried my wireless keyboard and my normal keyboard, yet both didnt work. So eventually found the legasy setting in my bios. Took ages to find as it was hidden. The keyboard support was "off" Not sure why though, I've never touched it.

After that managed to format it fine1!

Thanks alot.
