Hey, i recently had to re-format my hard-drive (i was switching to linux and now i wanted to go back). so i removed all the partitions and put in my XP pro CD, upon installing it says that a lot of files are missing on the CD, i then tried another CD with the same problem. do you think this is a CD drive issue? or is it really bad luck and i should search the web for another copy?

Possibly your CD/DVD drive has gone up the spout.

I've seen very similar problems when the memory was bad.
Try reducing your FSB to see if it helps, if so something is running faster than it is capable of.

Are your disc's scratched at all?
What kind of problems were you having that made your reinstall?
Sounds like 1 of the 2 suggested solutions, bad cd rom or memory :) Maybe the reason your reinstalling holds the answer :)

my computer was working fine before i re-installed, its less then a year old with new everything. both the disks i got were copies of originals and slightly scratched but they worked the first time. i'll try replacing my CD-ROM drive and lowering my FSB though, Thanks!
