XP-90 without fan

Do you think you could run the XP-90 without a fan on top and get good temps? PLanning on putting it on an OCed A643000+

Probably wont work too well without some air flow across the top. If your running at stock you could run an almost silent slow moving 92mm fan and never get it too hot.
 
Well im gona oc it to at least 2ghz hopefully more :)

the problem is im using a chenming 118 mATX case and theres a metal bar going right across where the CPU is, real annoying. So i get about 67-69mm of clearance for an HSF
 
You won't be able to do it unless your computer sits in hybernation 24/7, heh.

Why do you think they include fans with their heatsinks for those processors intended to run just at stock speeds? Feel free to run without a fan, but take your crying elsewhere when you smell smoke.
 
You need some kind of airflow over the heat sink. Get an ultra quiet one if you can't live with noise of any kind.
 
If you don't have any room for a fan on top, do you have room to stick a fan on the side of it blowing air across the fins? If not, you could either try and stick a 15mm fan on top, cut up your case, or just buy a new case.
 
Also keep in mind that many cpu fans run quieter than the beefy case fans you will be using to get that caseflow for the passive hsf you're thinking about. Getting a cpu fan might be the quieter solution for you anyway.
