Now I've got to go find some other HSF that will do the job yet not be so annoying.

I fit an xp-90 on my k8n neo2. I had it so the pipes facing the AGP slot and the overhaning part was over my memory. I had the Leadtek 6800GT with the massive copper heatsink on it and I didn't have any problems mounting it. Maybe try flipping the sink around?
 
Wolf you have the heatsink on backwards. There is plenty of room to mount the heatsink the other way especially if you put the ram in AFTER you mount the heatsink.

Mounted the correct way, the overhanging part also helps add airflow over the ram.
 
It should fine, some people are sticking XP-120 on there Neo2 boards...
 
make sure you tell thermalright if it works or not so they can add it to the motherboard compatibility list.
 
I have the XP-120 on. You should follow the instructions that come with the thing.
 
Then maybe this one is manufactured differently. If I spin it around to where the big part of the unit sits over the RAM, the part that sits on the CPU is half way off the CPU and sits on the plastic RM. Which also causes the HSF to not sit flush with the CPU. I've tried this several different ways and none of them will work. :(

Any of you got any pics of your XP-90s on this thing? I'd really rather not deal with a different HSF even tho I have the stock one on while I'm deciding what to do now.
 
You have to be doing something wrong if it won't fit, sorry I can't help with a picture but I definetly fit my XP-90 on the same board. My video card is an AIW 9800 Pro.
 
This is a pretty simple thing. How could I be doing something wrong?? :confused:

I even went back and looked at the instructions. I replaced the stock RM with the included one. Screwed it down and tried a test run of putting the HSF onto the board with CPU installed. No Arctic Silver yet...when I noticed how it was hanging over the AGP slot I turned it around.

Maybe I should go tinker with it more.

Seat the ram first, then put on the XP90, it will overhang the first 2 ram slots, offering active cooling, as well as freeing up space for a AGP card.
 
Thanks...I appreciate that. Yours almost looks like it's not entirely covering the CPU. I'm sure that isn't true tho as you wouldn't be using it otherwise.

I'm not worried about the RAM not fitting in tho.
 
It covers the IHS, but just barely. Not that it should be too big a concern, since most of the heat comes through the IHS in a fairly small area right around the actual core, and AS suggests you not cover the entire IHS in a thin layer of paste, but rather put a drop in the center of the IHS and let the HSF press it out into a circle that will end up not covering the entire IHS anyways.

I'll mess with it tonight and probably report back here on how retarded I am. :D :p
