I know that you have to register within 30 days of buying the product to receive a double lifetime warranty, but all you have to do is register with the serial number and you're done? No uploading a receipt or anything?

I emailed them but I didn't get a response for a while now, i'm very cautious of the procedure because I failed to get a warranty on my last video card which has died.

Yes, just register and you're done. I think they're assuming you wouldn't have access to the serial number unless you owned the card.

that's so weird though couldn't you just put down the date purchased as any day you want?

so you would technically never be out of 30 days?

The XFX Double Lifetime Protection goes into effect once the initial Owner (Owner #1) registers the product online with us. The product MUST be registered WITHIN 30 DAYS OF PURCHASE. If the product is not registered within that time, the product is warranted for 1 (one) year from purchase date.

At the time of registration, a unique Registration I.D. is issued. Should the initial owner sell or give the card to another owner, the new owner must also register the card online with us. That owner, too, will be issued a unique Registration I.D.

If you try to cheat the system, don't be surprised if XFX calls up the vendor you bought it from to verify the purchase date.

They ask for a invoice or receipt copy when you RMA. Not sure if its required for the lifetime warranty or just the older not-lifetime warranties.

True enough, but I would not say thats shaddy. The shaddy part comes in when
you have a sales receipt and that sales receipt should be good enough for them, but its not. They want you to fail to register the card so they can get out the warrenty, and If thats not shaddy then I don't know what shaddy is, then the other part. When you do register the card, they hope you sell it to someone else down the line and lose the warrenty that away.Shaddy again.

I say card makers should just give there cards a 6 year warrenty from mfd. That way in six years what will a 295 really cost? .50 bucks tops.

So I say, shaddy is as shaddy does.

It's all a head game to get more sales.

"Double-lifetime warranty" sounds a LOT better than "6 year warranty" so people will be more likely to go for the longer warranty. It's stupid but every manufacturer of everything in the world plays these stupid mind games and a lot of people fall for it.

The registration is so they can confirm who the original owner is, and if the card is transferred to someone else, who that person really is. That way, if the card is transferred again to a third person, XFX will be able to determine that that person isn't covered by the warranty.

If they just keep track based on a purchase receipt, that receipt can be transferred from person to person along with the card, and XFX would have no way of knowing how many people have owned it. If each person who owns the card has to register it with a unique account, they can limit the card to two registrations and prevent something like that from happening.

"Double-lifetime warranty" isn't just a marketing term from XFX. It means that the warranty is transferable and that makes selling one owner XFX cards a breeze. Plus XFX are just great. I've bought a dozen over the years, only had one bad one, one the three GTX 280's I got last year. It was new so I sent it back to mwave, they exhanged it and no problems since. The first sli rig in three tries that I actually loved!

Plus they were cool about sending me back $360 last year as I was a GTX 280 launch day buyer. XFX is just a great GPU company and until they screw me they will have my busineess!:D

I'm not saying the company is bad (or any other company). Maybe I shouldn't have included the "Double" in my post. I was just pointing out the head games that companies nowadays like to play on the public to get more sales.

lol all the information you need to register comes on a little thing you can hang on the outside of your door that says "DO NOT DISTURB...I'M GAMING!" No kidding!
