Im thinking about getting an 5 port XFX Revo64 and 5 320gb 7200.10s and set up a raid3 array.

does anyone have any experiance with this controller? it is far cheaper than any other controllers out there so is it any good?
 
I'd recommend, well, anything over XFX. Specifically, if your motherboard supports it, the Highpoint 2320 is pretty attractive - I've recommended it to several people, and for the most part it's worked out very well. If you're interested in speed, the Areca 1200 line of cards are your bag. If you don't have Pci Express on your board, the Highpoint 2220 and Areca 1100 series will work in standard pci slots provided there's nothing in the way beyond the end of the slot.

Note that although these are more expensive than the XFX (much more so in the case of the Areca), they have 8 ports, and a RAID kernel that won't absolutely freak out if a disk drops. I'd say it's worth it.
