I currently have a new reference Gigabyte R9 290 I bought for $399.99 First one got RMA'd this is the new replacement. I am looking to get another card to crossfire for a new rig I am building. The candidates are listed below and have been ordered from Amazon with the estimated dates of arrival.

XFX Double D R9 290 947MHz 4GB DDR5 DP HDMI 2XDVI Graphics Cards R9290AEDFD due in sometime between March 7-March 14. $499.99

Gigabyte Windforce R9 290 GDDR5-4GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC Graphics Card GV-R929OC-4GD March 10-March 19. $499.99

I know the Windforce had some cooling issues. Those of you that have the card have they been taken care of? Tried to find where Gigabyte addressed the issue but can't find it. ALSO what about the XFX? How does it seen to be doing with the aftermarket cooler? Which one of these would you recommend over the other and why?

PART 2

I also have 2 R9 290X cards due in on Feb. 19-25th They are the ASUS Graphics Cards R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 cards @ $580/each. Not really feeling the love for them for the xtra $80/each. but again it is only $80.

My dilemma is what to put into the new system R9 290's(and which R9 290's) OR R9 290X's. I am usually a price/performance guy, but $80 kind of blurs the line. What is really clouding this is the Pirate Island chips coming in about 8 months which at 20nm will be faster and cooler. That makes me consider just using 1 card and waiting before I go Crossfire with the 20nm chips.

Any thoughts?
