XFX now has a 7800GTX at 490 gpu and 1300 memory for $599

BFG has a 7800GTX at 460 gpu and 1300 memory for $619

is bfg worth the extra money for their warranty and lesser clock speed

or would the xfx be the better way to go

also which would oc better

edit: xfx also comes with bf2

id go bfg

warranty is a plus, clockspeed is a minor benefit

but for $20 gimme a card from a manufacturer I trust, who when I do have a problem will based on past experiances take care of me. XFX well ill be surprised if their still around in 3yrs

yea i know bfg is a great company i jst dont know much about xfx

i also know that bfg is good for oc but again i need info on xfx

I vote for Pine Technology

For those who dont know XFX = Pine Tech

Pine was a major value brand for awhile, atleast in canada, by value i mean they sold tnt2s when everyone else was into Geforce4s

BFG, just because it will overclock higher than the XFX and has a better warranty.

how will it OC better because its BFG? I mean, I love BFG and recommend it, but the other brand can OC too right? heh, im just blabbering.

BFG is OC out of box anyway, correct?

actually the cooler can affect your OC, XFX coolers were usually reference I think BFG uses that dual fan thingy. So it very well could, but its all a matter of odds

The BFG cooler is not different than any other brand. Go with whatever fits your needs in terms of the package provided as well as warrenty etc. I've heard BFG support is much better however, but both (card wise) are good.

I agree that the minor step up in clock speed won't be noticed. Just... use the force! :p

Because the BFG starts at 460, and the XFX starts at 490. They'll probably hit about the same speed, but the BFG starts at a lower speed. Get what I'm saying?

Interesting. Wonder if they're using different ram. Regardless seems the 7800s OC quite nicely. I'd go with what is available - that's what I did.

Like I've told every sales droid trying to sell me the extended warranty - if I still have this card after the warranty period expires and the card dies, I'll purchase the latest and greatest new thing.

thnx for all the feadback il get which ever is cheaper wen i build my pc

thnx again

they are quite similar. And either one you get you can oc to the same place (about), so it doesn't matter performance wise. So you should get the cheaper one. Especially if XFX does have a 490/1300 clock speed, you might not even want to void your warrenty on that bad boy. I doubt you'll get much higher than that on air.

If you want a free game pad that actually works, go for the XFX, it comes bundled with one. Both are excellent manufacturers though, so I'd just go for the best deal. ;)

If you are going to buy top of the line hardware at these prices, I would go with a company you know you can trust with a rock-solid warranty. BFG is known for their excellent customer service and for backing their warranties. I had to RMA my BFG 6800 Ultra with them, and they sent me a brand new one without hassle.

For me a few extra bucks for a solid no hassle warranty is worth its weight in gold when you have a problem. After spend so much for a video card I want a better warranty just in case. On that note I am sure both cards will perform similarly.

BFG and XFX both use the reference cooler for the 7800GTX's. The XFX ones I've seen have this ghey psychedelic color scheme which isn't my bag at all. Besides BFG has a good warranty and good support. The memory OC is more important than the core. The cores in my experience usually all do pretty good. Its the memory that seems to be more luck of the draw to me.

XFX has a reputation for offering cards at a lower price point by cutting corners. They cut corners in QC rather than components or card design. So its seems to be more of a crap shoot with them.

My vote is BFG.

wat the hells a 6850 ultra??? http://www.gpureview.com/GeForce-6850-Ultra-card-302.html

damn.. the x850 xt pe still looks impressive even if its been a couple months :p

Never heard of it. Looks like the refresh of the 6800Ultra everyone expected to see earlier this year. it has slightly higher clock speeds than the GT's and Ultra's had before it.

I don't think anyone ever released such a card.
