XFX MB-X58I - any thoughts or anyone got one ?

I love it when people make claims like this yet provide no evidence to back it up.

lol. Sorry to bump this old thread, but exactly what do you think he's going to get by lying about this? Might he have been making an offhand comment about local availability when requesting information on a certain product? Jeez...

Was wondering if it was worth using, anyone got one or found a review ?. Supplier has 30+ in stock :). XFX Link http://www.xfxforce.com/en-gb/products/motherboards/xseries/X58i.aspx

Found this link on xtreme for anyone who's intrested. http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/showthread.php?p=3537172#post3537172

Aha! A fellow kiwi! :)

For those still interested in this board...

Basically from what I've been able to find (will search for links if needed), they're not bad boards, with PCIe slots at x16, x8, x16 (though only some reviews suggest that it can run two 16x slots in dual SLI, others say the second and third slots are hardwired at x8).

Assuming that you can switch the lanes to two 16x however they're the green slots - meaning you don't get the detrimental effects to cooling by having to place dual slot cardds side by side with two card SLI . They also don't use the NT200 chip and so don't suffer from the latency that gives.

However the one review I've read that goes into overclocking in depth suggests you can't push bclck past 180 or so on thes boards, which is backed up by the need for a 'mod' as on the extremesystems forum - so unless keen on a mod, if you're aiming on a 4.0GHz 920 and the XFX's capabilities don't improve in a BIOS update, it might be best to go for a P6T.
