Picked up a XFX Radeon 7950 Core to replace a GTX 460 SLI setup. This 7950 has a single fan and XFX says it utilizes some ghost thermal technology. I assumed "ghost" meant it would cool the card and be pretty quiet. Boy was I wrong! When playing BF3 at 1080p with it set to Ultra the card gets to about 76 degrees and the fan kicks up to 63%. It is way too loud and can easily hear it over my case fans. I'm very disappointed- not sure I can tolerate this as my computer case is right on my desk. Is this typical of all the 7950/7970s? What is the temp threshold for the 7950s? I could probably tolerate about 50-55% fan speed and was tempted to manually set the fan- 60% is just way too loud. Any suggestions? thx
