i have 2 XFX 7970 in crossfire but the problem is when i run them in crossfire within minutes of playing a game the screen freezes. but if i run one card only it runs fine. i have taken out each card and run it on a game and it works and re downloaded the drivers 12.8. they are not oc and i have a rosewill 850 watt power supply.

Temperatures?Voltages? Run some monitoring software like hwinfo, GPU-Z and report results.

Robert- planetside 2 and league of legends my buddy has 2 6990 and he runs them both on xfire fine and another friend with 2 6870 xfire and hes fine to.

RJA- temps get to about 38-40 C idle 62-72 C in game and volt is on the hwinfo is
Video Bus: PCIe v3.0 x16 (8.0 Gb/s) @ x16 (2.5 Gb/s)

another thing is i dont have xfire enabled idk why the other card is running hotter. and on catalyst when i run xfire when no game is running on 2nd card shows nothing running like 0 gpu 0 memory clock but when i start up games it turns on. read about it people said the card goes to sleep or some shit.

I had similar problems with 7970 xfire and I had to get rid of them. Once I went to GTX 680s in SLI all my troubles went away.

u know whats weird is that i replaced the xfire bridge and one of the games didnt crash for about 2 hours but better than it crashed better then 5 min i think its the driver issues maybe.

Could your Rosewill PSU not delivering power up to spec? Do you have access to a brand name PSU like a Corsair that you could try?
