I have a small problem that has slowly been driving me insane. I have searched this forum and many others and have found similar problems, but none that seem to give a concise answer. I recent upgraded my system. This upgrade included the aforementioned card, a new P6x58D Asus board, and two new WD HDDs (in raid ATM). This card was actually purchased first, and was running fine on my previous system. It should be noted that I have installed water cooling for the GPU to reduce the insane amount of noise cause by he stock fan.
I am getting the Display driver stopped responding and has recovered error, but I only get this when he system is either turned on, awakened from sleep, or after it has been idle for extended frames. If I try to start anything that is graphic intensive, the screen flashes a few times and then hangs up. Usually a reboot or two will fix this. Once im actually in the game it performs like a champion. I run extreme graphics modes with full AA and shadows without a hitch. I originally thought I'd done something wrong when installing the cooling system, bit the fact that everything works great once inside of a game, and it's cooled properly, makes me want to rule out that possibility. I have read some posts dealing with voltage settings for AMD cards causing problems if the machine was idle, but why would the card work fine in one system and have issues in another? Possible setting issues on the mainboard?
So far I have flashed the mainboard Bios and updated all drivers. I have yet to uninstall, drive sweep, and reinstall. Do any of you have a suggestion?
On a side note. My memory is stock Latency of 8-8-8-24 1600Mhz. Do I need to manually adjust the bios to match be stock timings on the memory? If so, would not having these set correctly cause problems with he video? My memory is OCZ3G1600LV6GK. Also it may be worth mentioning I run an 850w PSU, so should be plenty of power.
