Hey,
I was building my new system with the following specs
XFX 680i LT Motherboard (w/ P07 BIOS for Wolfdale Support)
Intel E8400 C2D
OCZ Rev. 2 PC6400 DDR2 RAM
WD Caviar 500 GB HDD
XFX 8600 GT XXX PCI-E
Corsair VX550 PSU
When I built it all and stuck my Windows disc to install the o/s, the whole system shut off and nothing but a blue LED was lit on the motherboard. The 24 pin was in all the way, the 4-pin molex aux. power was plugged in, AND the 8-pin CPU power was plugged in the board as well...so I made sure all the power was connected properly.
I bought an ASUS P5N-D motherboard after that and rebuilt the system with the same parts and it booted up no problem - so I'm pretty sure it's a motherboard issue, and not bad components attached to it.
Does anybody know what sort of problem it might be? Returning it would be a last resort, and I just want to try and diagnose the problem before I RMA it. I'm pretty sure it might be defective...or is the board just picky?
I'd like to keep it if possible...or is the P5N-D better anyways? Any advice would help...
Thanks a lot
Brady
