I have been running an Xfinity gateway (a device that is a modem and router in one) in bridge mode. (Bridge mode makes the gateway act as a modem only.) Now I want to switch it back to act as a Gateway. I have been trying to connect to the device through a wired connection while it stays offline. The reason for this is that the alternative would mean connecting to the internet without a router.
This plan is not working.
Xfinity calls the device
XB6
On the device is says XB6-A.
The Xfinity web page indicates that the IP address is http://10.0.0.1
I have tried that address.
I changed Firefox about:config to network.stricttransportsecurity.preloadlist false
in case the browser is redirecting to https
Xfinity has specified a model number of TG3482G as possibly what this is. Maybe Arris Touchstone TG3482G?
I logged into my Xfinity account to see if I can change gateway settings there but no dice.
I can do a factory reset on the gateway. Is that the next logical step? I just fear that that will force me down the road of connecting to it while it's online.
