XFI sound problem...

This happens when I install X-FI in ANY PCI slot..

After that screen it won't go to normal WINXP booting screen and computer would just restart...

WTF is going ON here...

System spec..

ATHLON 64 3000+ OCed 270x9
DFI Ultra D
2x512MB Patriot PC3200
PCIE ATI X800 XL
nothing else in PCI other than XFI
250GB PATA
200GB PATA
Modded BIOS
 
Nice nice, but tell me where did you get the Xi-Fi from? I've looked everywhere (online) and no one has it. -Newegg, Bestbuy, Compusa, desperate attempt Ebay-

It's true. I think a few have been floating around somehow. Try looking it up on ebay. There's a few listed.
 
Multiple people have posted pics of the box etc, Im still lost why this is so unbelievable, ill put batteries in my cam in the morning and post up my receipt of two cards... I bought mine on Friday afternoon, local bestbuy in Buffalo, NY had them. Lots of people around the net seem to have gotten them now as well, a few guys on anandtech purchased the platinum and the xtreme music editions. Im really happy I did buy mine, I love it so far. Glad ya got your problem fixed man, I spent all weekend putting new computers together, 3 seperate machines and all 3 are using X-Fi's :) I havent had a single prob yet with any of the three, but all 3 were clean installs on new systems for the most part.
 
Oh boy the BB store nearest me has the in stock online and supposedly in store! Looks like I am going to be $200 down after today :p

EDIT what I dont understand is how BB can have them in stock, yet EVERY single online store has them backordered!

EDIT2: Just called 3 stores and none have the X-FI in stock. Looks like the counters online are all messed up. On well, looks like I will have to wait till another day.
 
BB in columbus, ohio at tuttle had them xtrememusic and platinum in Friday. I know this was incredibly slow to update, but was too busy enjoying BF2 with it
 
I have the EXACT same problem as you, except my mobo is the EVGA nForce4 SLI, and there is no update available, they say it is the most recent BIOS.

Any other suggestions for how to fix this?
 
Youre eVGA motherboard is actually a Jetway mb- I am assuming you could use a Jetway bios. See if they have an updated bios for the board that may help.
 
So there's no difference really amongst the cards themselves, the rest that include the Remote/ IO Front panel is just extra ports and stuff have just the same performance, just more to offer?
 
Picked the X-Fi card up at Best Buy in Grapevine, TX just now. Plan to install tonight. They had the plain card and the Platinum version.
 
Is it safe to install a Jetway BIOS on this board? EVGA says they tweaked the board to their own specifications, so I don't know if it would screw something up.

Yea I saw the other thread and went to pick up my XFi from a local bestbuy. When replaced my Audigy2 Value (in the bottom PCI slot) I saw the IRQ table go apeshit as well. Boots into windows but kb and mouse wouldnt work I was like wtf? I switched to second from bottom irq table still haywire but the mouse and kb work now. I have a DFI SLI-DR and havent tried flashing the bios yet but I will do later.
 
I can't get into windows at all, it just blue-screens the system about the ACPI stuff

64 meg of memory is cheap- there is no reason they could not have included it in a $130 or $200 sound card. I would suspect in the future a pci express X-Fi card wouldn't need any memory as it could easily use sysem memory.

The thing I don't understand is..

There really REALLY a big difference between the top 2 models from the two lesser models?

I mean the x-ram sounds like a colossal pile of horse****, that has marketing gimmick written all over it, so the big question is, between all the models is there a performance decrease if you don't have the X-Ram? or?..
 
BF2 is the only game that takes advantage of the x-ram at the moment, but apparently it does make a difference in it. Hopefully future games will use it more. I'm getting the fatal1ty only because I caught the CL sale they had 2 weekends ago, got it for the price of the platinum. If I hadn't got that sale, I'm not sure which model I would have gotten. I probably would have gone cheap, but it would nag me if the future games use that feature more.

One major difference would be the quality of DAC. But I do see your point of selling sound card for $400...

Then try older ones...if all else fails..you either gotta change the motherboard or just ditch the sound card..

Edit: Omg my S700 finally got here..paired it with xtrememusic.. IT"S MIND BLOWING!!!

Anyone have any other ideas? Still no confirmation whether or not its safe to install Jetway BIOS on this board, and I don't want to fry it.
 
Any help for someone with the same problem? I flashed the bios, no go. ACPI is enabled on my bios also. I'm getting tired of my new stuff never working, I need answers!
 
Just got my card yesterday. Popped it in, installed drivers, all the PCI install requests dissapeared, and worked great. Then I was playing BF2 and took a screen shot that then froze the PC. Rebooted to find myself having the same problem as Justinkoko; won't boot after BIOS, works fine with the card out but no way to boot with it in.

Just letting you know before I try the latest BIOS. BTW, Justinkoko, which BIOS did you use?
