xfi installation

installed xfi and z5500s......
no new install of windows as of yet.......
did not install creative bloatware,programs, etc.....
just newest drivers from thier website........
1.first off is it wise to get the digital io module and use digital fiber or coax?
2.i dont seem to get alot of volume unless i turn up the main volume...
3.my sub placement sucks lol....on other side of a large bookshelf not in the center........gotta make room now .....
any hints advice would be greatly appreciated........

You won't get surround sound from games when using digital.
