Xeon S603 vs. S604

I have a pair of 2.2/400's that are S604 (at least, I think they are). A guy looking to buy them wants 603 only (and inquired the following)....are these, if 604 (I have to look again), compatible with a pin chop? I thought that extra pin was for 533 bus originally but its obviously not.
 
The easiest way to do it is to drill a small hole in the socket of the Socket 603 board with like a jewelers drill bit. That way you don't ruin the chip by breaking a pin and it doesn't hurt the motherboard at all.
 
I suppose that would be easier too...though for the record, can anyone confirm or deny the idea that the rogue 604 400fsb chips are compaible with 603 otherwise? Dead pin? Extra ground?
 
The extra pin does not do anything. Intel's way of making people buy new boards. I am almost 100% sure of this... but someone should confirm.
 
The pin does nothing if you want a confirm. I've built quite a few xeon servers, and have a pair of xeon duallies in my farm.
