lets say i wanted to build an octocore
what is good cheap mobo?
no OC
will the performance be great enough>
i like to render and editing HD movies and create CG movies

you would be looking at about another 400 $ just for the mobo (look for s771 boards), not to mention the fact that you would NEED FB-DIMM memory, which is scarce(r then normal DDR2), runs hotter, costs more, and will be replaced soon anyway

while i love the idea of a octo-core xeon for cheap (and 200 for a QC xeon is a good deal), the S771 platform isnt very inviting right now imho
