I'm new to Virtualization and looking at setting up a home lab to learn Vmware and CitrixXen App, I was planning on getting a Dell Precision T5500 as it supports vcenter 5.5 . I'm wondering about Citrix Xen App HCL, I see there is a HCL for XenServer , would this also apply to XenApp server ? The precision T5500 isn't on this list , would this just mean that it isn't supported or that it won't tun atall ?

XenApp = application and it's "HCL" relies on the underlying OS to provide
access to resources.

XenServer , at least up to XS 6.2, was very forgiving (read: more driver support) when
it come to the HCL .... typically if VMWare ESXI can run on it, XenServer would too.
I have not tried XS 6.5.

I had a Precision T3500 (can't remeber processor) and it worked for XS just fine.
Dell usually run Intel or Broadcom NICs and XS will be fine . I'd expect it to be old enough
that ESXi is okay too.

If in doubt, just compare specific components (CPU/NIC/Storage Controllers) to any HCL.
Post them up here and I'm sure we can help too.

You should be fine i have xen 6.5 running on optiplex 780's and its been fine so i'm sure you will be too.:)
