So I finally got a wireless xbox 360 controller with a wireless reciever. I installed both & windows sees both items under device manager. However when I go to unplug the controller it just shuts down and the wireless reciever does nothing...What is going wrong here? Any help is appreciated.

Confused, what do you mean when you unplug the controller?

Sounds like a simple question but did you go through the paring process for the receiver and controller?

The charging kit. Whenever I unplug the kit the controller shuts off ...what is the pairing process maybe that's the issue? Thanks for input

there is a pairing button on the controller near where the charging cable plugs in.

Unplug the controller from charging cable
Turn controller on by holding xbox button
Hold down the pairing button on the controller (like dbu8554 said, a small button near where the charging cable plugs in). Lights should flash on the controller
Press button on wireless receiver, lights on controller should stop flashing

You should be good to go then. You only need to pair it the first time after that it will just remember the pairing.
