Xbox Summer Update Is Rolling Out

A big update for Xbox One is debuting this weekend, with long-awaited features that include background audio. Cortana is also now available so you can navigate the console with voice commands, and the UI has finally been updated to show you better progress of game installation and download rates.

The latest system update for Xbox One and the Xbox app starts rolling out this weekend, continuing our commitment to give gamers more choice in how and where they play. Cortana is now on Xbox One, Background Music will be available through music apps like Pandora, we’re bringing the most played PC games to Xbox Live with their own Game Hubs and we’re starting to combine the best of the Xbox Store and Windows Store for a single cohesive experience across devices.

Most of this seems like stuff that should've been around from the start...you know, searching the store by genre, organizing your games list, tile size (seriously they had different sized tiles in Windows Phone years before Xbone)

At least they're making steps in the right direction.

To be fair, your original post reads really weirdly when you say you appreciate they take the time to improve a product you purchased with your hard earned money. Granted I did and feel the (mostly) the same, it has a weird feel to it.

However it doesn't feel like a paid PR stock comment though.

Nah, it felt like a pr thing to others because around here because most prefer to just bitch about things and nothing else. (Not you but most.) Me, I am going to say when I appreciate something and that is just the way it is for me now. 15 years ago, I would have done nothing but bitch if something online was not to my liking but, I am older now and it is just not worth doing that anymore and it gets me nowhere anyways. Someone such as nex-Jin who would say something like that basically was saying that he prefers bitching about someone over praising what someone has done.

*I sold my Xbox for 300 a few months ago, waiting on Xbox One S. It's not something I needed to hold onto up until release if that matters.

Personally, I prefer to give praise when something is being improved upon. I used to whine all the time a decade or two ago and guess what? It did no good. (Not saying you are whining here, just that I got sick of doing it myself.) Now, of course, I get attacked and called names because I am not willing to go along with the crowd.

It's so true, sure I've made a lucrative career out of it playing games while wearing just a bra and thong while taking requests to accommodate peoples vices.

But after 5 years I have realized just how demeaning it really is to me and my family. Wearing a bra and thong. And being a guy. But it pays the bills.

One thing with which age really seems to help is that youthful impulse to bitch and complain about things that everyone else is bitching and complaining about. A prime example that springs to my mind (because I recently listened again to the podcast series "U Talkin' U2 to Me?" - highly recommended) is when U2 released their album "Songs of Innocence" and gave it away free to every iTunes user. The negative backlash was such that you'd think they'd rammed feces right down people's throats. The only reason the outcry was so loud was because a negative feedback loop was created where people thought that it was cooler to hate than to appreciate (and it's really one of U2's best albums) - about as immature as bullshit gets.

Similarly, the Xbox One is not a perfect device but from the way some people talk you'd think that just turning the thing on increases your cancer risk and that attaching Kinect to it will make it violently rape your children.

I don't know if I'm into this update. I mean, I like all the features they added, but it seems like they changed around general stuff with the tiles that was largely unnecessary. They also added another ad tile on the home page...
