I have heard mixed reports on how well the 733 mhz Xbox runs divx movies. Has anyone had any first hand experience with this?

Thanks you guys, was worried about high-quality rips stuttering a bit.

Divx, Xvid, VCDs.. not had an issue. I play 'em of the HD. (my xbox has a 250GB HD)

How do they look through component cables? Anyone have component cables?
And has anyone applied the 'patch' to make Xbox's DVD player play in progressive scan? I've heard about it, but never heard a review for it.

*sorry for the mini-hijack*

My xbox plays to my 57 Inch widescreen toshiba 57HX81 through component video.

DVD's using DVD X2 are progressive scanned without combing issues. Very nice, but not as nice as a good HTPC, or any of the upscaling DVD Players.

As for Divx, it depends on the quality of the rip. Since the screen is pretty large, bad quality rips are obviously poor. Good quality rips can rival dvds in certain scenes, but there are always locations where you can see the degradation.

Xbox can however play them fine.

My xbox is using Avalaunch > XBMC > DVD X2 on a xenium chip

divx plays fine for me too.. dvd rips at full quality are just fine (DV is like 720x480 or something)
