10 yr old nephew seems to like racing games. I had a few demos pulled down to my xbox and he seemed more interested in playing them. So looking for a racing game for his birthda?

Preferred features
- little/no 'career' development. A story arc is ok, but the whole simulated 'tour' aspect would probably wasted/confusing/boring for him (he's 10). Even choosing car parts (tires, transmission, etc.) might be wasted as he'd probably pick based entirely on what looks cool.
- ATV/Dirt Bike/Off-Road theme preferred but not required
- Leaning towards more realistic looking artwork but cartoonish gameplay is probably ok but not necessary (Knocking your opponent off the road, dropping oil slicks, guns, etc. But not required and the emphasis should be racing)
- No running over hookers. (I'll wait until he's 11 that :p ).
- A game with a strong racing component like Saboteur might suffice as opposed to a pure racing game

Any suggestions?

Blur is pretty much a grown up looking Mario Kart. Trade the karts for real cars and real looking world. You can get power-ups laying on the tracks. There is even split-screen so you can play together.

Burnout Paradise is another to look into. Large open world to drive around in or just goof off. Challenge racers or do the crash mode where you try to wreck yourself and take out as many cars as possible.

Both games are E10 so pretty kid friendly.

Look at the Dirt series. Dirt 2 has a little story mode but it's very simple? Cars look awesome and handel great..
