So playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 it says my NAT type is Moderate. I have opened up the required ports for the 360 on my router, and also went through my modem and that showed my NAT as open when i did that.

When i try to do the Connect test through the 360s dashboard i get a ICMP Error. I have restarted my modem and router multiple times like it says to fix it but it doesn't help.
I have a Rosewill RNX Easy N4 router.

Could be a problem with your ISP?

If i checked my modem and i got the NAT open, wouldn't that eliminate an ISP problem?

Xbox LIVE requires the following ports to be open:

Port 88 (UDP)

Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

Port 80 (TCP)

Is it possible that your internet modem has NAT as well? Can you setup a bridged connection so your modem sends the external ip to your router? DSL, Cable? What model modem?

The only reason you would need the NAT to be open is if you hope to be the host. For some reason MW3 is super strict on what they consider an open NAT. For instance both MW2 on pc and halo reach both tell me I have an open NAT, while MW3 (pc and 360) both tell me it is at moderate.

You'll still be able to play without issues, you just wont be host.

Whenever i have a Moderate NAT i can see a little bit of lag compared to when its open. I have just started disconnecting my router and playing through my modem.
