I just got off several sessions of Lost Planet and each time I entered a match, people ended up yelling at me for my lag. I'm not using a wireless connection at all, I have my ethernet cord hardwired straight into my 360. I have 6MB broadband, too. I know this shouldn't be happening, what is causing this?

A couple questions.

I don't have Lost Planet, but does that game give you any indication of the type of connection you're getting? And example would be Rainbow Six Vegas will give you a red circle if you're poor, two yellow circles if you're okay, and 3 green if you're good. Halo 3 is sort of the same way, they have a bar made up of like 8-10 blocks, instead of 1 to 3 circles. Anyway, are you able to get any indication, in a game, as to your connection?

Two, do you have your 360 hooked up to a router, along with other electronic devices, also running and using your internet connection?

Lost Planet is really the only I have that I have fun playing online with other than Star Wars Battlefront where I also get lag in. I don't have Halo 3 or anything else much to compare it to. Lost Planet doesn't show any kind of connection status like Halo 3 does and doesn't indicate if you are lagging or not.

Battlefront does, however, with a little picture of a cord with a slash through it in the corner that pops up pretty often when I play. And it's noticeable because I get the jerky screen and movements.

Again, I'm not using a router or any kind of shared or wireless connection. I have my 360 directly connected from my cable modem.

So you unplug your computer when you play on xbox live?

Anway, you should start by running the connection test in your Xbox 360 System blade.

On your computer, open a command prompt and type "ping -n 100 www.google.com" and see if you're getting any packet loss.

If both those check out, Im not sure what the problem could be. Lag is normally caused by poor upload bandwith (such as on a shared connection with your siblings using bittorrent), or by significant packet loss, or for xbox live in particular, a strict router. You could also try calling 1-800-4myxbox and see if they have any ideas.
