Xbox first party handheld

I think that explains the recent moves by Microsoft. IMO this heralds the end of their HW division.
 
Nothing prevents them from using an off the shelf AMD chip lke Asus is doing with their Xbox branded handheld so they don't need to invest in a seperate chip, that's not to say they will do so.

The plan is to use a next gen series S as a third party handheld in 2027-2028

But this will cost $1000 or so like the rog xbox Ally now

The PS6 handheld is a smaller chip that will compete in the budget of switch 2 — MS refused to do anything like that as they couldn't guarantee volumes for custom chip to AMD

Well you know, the Asus tax is high these days, and consoles usualy get somewhat subsidized by game sales so there is probably some wiggle room on the price.
