I've been pondering getting a fighting game for xbox since I haven't played a good one in a long time. I like the MK series but wasn't sure if Deadly Alliance would offer anything different than MK4? did on PS1. I'm also a big fan of the street fighter series, and thought about picking up Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO or Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but couldn't find much in the way of reviews on either.

I saw that both SNK vs Capcom SVC and Street Fighter Aniversary list 'Online' in their descriptions, but wasn't sure if they would be Live Aware or if you would actually be able to play them vs. other players online...anyone know? I've also heard some good things abot the upcomming MK: Deception, but haven't looked at it much yet as it doesn't come out until late this year I believe.

I've never really gotten into Soul Calibur and never played the Dead or Alive series, so I'll probably stick to one of the above types for the time being. What have you played, and which would you recommend?

Capcom Vs. SNK 2 EO is pretty good; it has a huge cast of characters from both sides and you can play it on Live. It's also one of the very few games where you'll be able to play reclusive SNK characters like Hibiki.

You can play EO on live against others? That sounds like it'd be pretty sweet right there. I didn't see any mention of that when looking at any of the games.

I got alot of enjoyment out of MK: Deadly Alliance as well as Soul Calibur 2. DOA3 is also a pretty cool game. I always end up going back to MK:DA though when I want a fighting fix, something about Mortal Kombat I guess.

DOA3 is good. Fun, pretty, and a decent button-masher.

MK: DA is good except unlocking all the characters is pretty tiresome unless you look up where they are located. My wife and I only looked up Frost 'cause she's hard to find. It's a good fighting game, though I miss having more than one fatality, babealitiies, etc etc.

SVC Chaos is a great game I will recommend it above the others you mentioned. The anniversary edition of street fighter is also great since it includes all of the old school modes of play for that game pre street fighter alpha. Samurai shodown V is supposed to be coming out next month which is also a fantastic game. I don't particularly like the 3d fighters which mortal kombat DA is reliant upon. If you like the 3d get soul calibur 2 before mortal kombat.

Fighting game don't work online. The slightest lag and the game is a bust.

Can you play the existing Capcom vs. SNK game on live against others, or is that only the next one that's coming out?

You can play the existing one on Live.

Even though you state you never really got into Soul Calibur, SC2 is *the* fighting game on any current platform, IMHO.

It's good beyond words. Do yourself a favor and buy it, have a few friends come over, have some drinks, and tear into each other.

Soul Calibur II is one of my favorite fighting games since Killer Instinct.

I am also looking forward to DOA Ulitimate, which is due out this fall.

for XBOX, i enjoy Marvel VS Capcom 2, soul caliber is alright

for me tho, the best fighting game series ever is Tekken, hands down, untouchable

Honestly, I think I've only ever played soul calibur once or maybe twice on a console. MK I used to win arcade tournaments a lot which is what made it so much fun, and street fighter I've always liked since the old days. I've got a few free rental coupons so maybe I'll pick soul calibur up and check it out. Can you play it on live against others?

SC2 is THE bomb. Very good graphics and fighting. I didnt like MK cause you had to use the damn d pad and I like the analog sticks better.

DOA3 rocks, I still play it and I have had it since launch, the controls are really good and intuitive, the graphics are still stunning, the character design is good, the animation is incredible, and the game just refuses to get old, I can't wait for DOA Ultimate.
P.S. 4 player tag team on DOA3, is the bomb

MD: DA is far deeper than any of the previous installments in the series. I enjoyed it immensely for quite some time, but when it gets old, it *really* gets old.

Soul Calibur II is nothing short of being the perfect 3D fighter. My only complaint is that it's not too much different than the original Soul Calibur (Which was absolutely amazing in itself...AND it came out in 1999 for the Dreamcast)

Soul Calibur 2 is at around $15 at gamestop, circuit city, and a few other places so I may go pick it up. Hell it's $6 to rent a game, buying it for twice that is much more worthwhile.

Went ahead and picked up MK: Deadly Alliance, Soul Calibur 2, and Capcom vs. SNK: EO...so we'll see which one ends up being my favorite.

I'm not relly into fighting games but a month ago I got Fight Night 2004 for PS2 and it's been the only game I played eversince - it's really good...
