XBox Elite Controller - Wireless Range question

Greetings:

I recently purchased an XBox One and I find the wireless range (on the controller!) to be a little disappointing. I'm constantly plagued by "please reconnect controller" messages. Does anyone know if the Elite Controller has better range?

I'm not that far from my xbox (maybe 15 feet tops), but it's in another room. It isn't a problem for my PS3/4, Wii/Wii-U, or 360 -- but the XBox one seems to not like it. If upgrading to the elite controller would help, I might just do that. I've got a gift card to the Microsoft store that would make it a little less painful of a purchase!

Wait, you mean in another room like the signal has to go through a wall or something?

That could be a problem. I understand that the other controllers dont have that problem, but youre expecting it to perform under abnormal circumstances.
