I have a friend who owns a 360 and wants to hook it up wirelessly. Obviously, they will need a wireless router. However, do they also need that USB wifi adapter from MS for $100? Or is there wifi already built in and that adapter just extends the range?

Thanks!

You'll need either the MS adapter or one of those bridge set-ups. The MS adapter is a good one, so I'd go with that if you can. Actually, I no longer use mine. I might consider selling it to someone.

The 360 doesn't have built-in wifi, so you either have to buy the Microsoft Wifi Adapter, which plugs into the USB port, or buy a wireless adapter that would plug into the 360's ethernet port. You can usually find one of them for less then the Microsoft Wifi Adapter.

If having a wired connection isn't a problem for him though, and he uses his 360 for online gaming, and not just downloading stuff, I would recommend sticking with it. A wireless connection isn't going to give you the same speed as a wired.
