I am looking for an RPG for the 360 that I will be wonderful. I have loved most Final Fantasy games, Dragon Warrior/Quest, and The Legend of Dragoon. Anyone have any recommendations for me? I need something that will be Epic.

lost odyssey is your best bet. i loved mass effect more but that's much less like JRPGs

Star Ocean: The Last Hope comes out next week, and it looks pretty awesome so far.

I'll second Lost Odyssey for a story-rich, mature jrpg. Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia are two more acclaimed jrpg's on 360 but they seem to both be more of an anime style.

Pretty much agree with everyone's recommendations. Mass Effect is around as well, although it looks like you're more into JRPGs than western RPGs.

The Last Remnant is epic (and, IMHO, quite good), but it has some other problems. Read reviews first.

I agree with the crowd that LO is a very good bet.

-Mass Effect
-Tales of Vesperia
-Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition
-Lost Odyssey

All are great games!

I enjoyed both Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. BD has a very kiddy look, but the game is good and I thought the leveling-up is quite unique.

Thanks for all the recommendations on the rpgs. I can't wait for FFXIII to come out, so in the meantime I need something great. I tried Mass Effect, I couldn't get into it. I murdered Oblivion on PC so those 2 are out. I will do some research on LO, BD, ES, Tales of V, and Last Remnant. Seems like there are more than I thought there were. *looks at wallet* This is gonna hurt, lol.

Lost Odyssey is epic... GREAT game. Turn based RPG... very much like classic Final Fantasy. Just wish FF13 was going to be more like it :(

mass effect is also very good. Playing through it now actually

xbox360 JRPGs:

Lost Odyssey (Great*)
Blue Dragon (Good*)
Eternal Sonata (Good*)
Tales of Vesperia (Good*)
Last Remnant (Good*)
Infinite Undiscovery (???)
Enchanted Arms (Average*)

Star Ocean: TLH (Releases Soon)

* Ratings are my opinion only
** I may have forgot one or two JRPGs
*** Some great Western RPGs are Mass Effect, Fable 2, Fallout 3, and Oblivion.
**** Does FFXII count as an JRPG or MMO-RPG?

Lost Odyssey
Star Ocean 4 (next week)
Blue Dragon
Eternal Sonata
Infinite Undiscovery
Tales of Vesperia
The Last Remnant
Enchanted Arms

Infinite Undiscovery is mediocre. Not terrible, but it's hard to call good.

Infinite Undiscovery's dub makes me want to punch a baby. IU the worst dub I've ever heard for the 360...... Combined with the fact the game was so-so at best, I honestly couldn't play it for more than 10 hours.

Seriously? I thought it was one of the better dubbed tri-Ace games. Some of the characters did sound terrible, but as a whole it could have been a lot worse.

I liked Tales of V a lot more than LO. I couldnt really get into LO and stopped playing an hour or so into it. Tales of V is more similiar in play style to older console RPG's. Storywise I have to assume both are great.

The last few dubbed games I played were P3, P4, ToV, IU, and Last Remnant. The first three had excellent dubs and LR had a fairly good one. IU, however was terrible. The twins coming into the story completely obliterated any fun I could extract from the game. I dunno, maybe was spoiled by P3 & P4.

I honestly wish SE would take a hint and allow for dual audio tracks on their games, hell I'll be happy if the Japanese audio was a DLC.

Heh, those games are a little tough to follow up on. I was playing Two Worlds before I moved on to IU and thought it was a vast improvement. :D

I guess that most people would perceive dirty water to be an improvement if you were drinking urine before.

Dragon Age : Origins looks to be pretty sick but from what I can tell there will be no online multiplayer. However for those of us that love NWN and BG it looks to be pretty kick ass. I plan on picking up an Xbox 360 so I can play it on that.

It's coming out on PC too, in case you weren't aware. It was supposed to be out in the next few weeks but they delayed it to this fall/holiday season.

Yeah I do know but I really doubt my current system will be able to play it very well and kinda over building another computer. Really the money seems like it would be better spent on a 360 instead of a new PC that will be obsolete in 3-6 months.

I think it was pretty decent. But a bit mediocre for a tri-ace game. It is kind of fun, just wish they add more variations, and better va. It's not enough for me to punch a baby, but it wasn't very good.

Lost Odyssey was OK. It often was filled with mindless tasks and incredibly overpowered bosses (early on). Also i heard the story was OMGWTFBBQ amazing when i found it to be incredibly dry, to the point where i just stopped playing mid way through the 3rd disk (yes i gave it a hell of a shot)

I highly recommend renting LO before buying, and im not much of a renter.

There were only a handful of difficult bosses in the beginning (like that damn Griffin), but things get much easier down the road. Also, the story is so-so, but it's the dreams that really give it the game its main appeal.

Lost Odyssey was great, I really enjoyed it because it has that classic JRPG feeling to it. It was also awesome because of how uber-powerful you coul dmake your characters by picking up new skills.

I honestly think that Tales of Vesperia has a better story and better combat- the real-time aspect of the combat makes it a lot of fun, mainly because it's a break away from the standard battle menus where you have to control what every character does in every situation. In Tales your party's AI is pretty smart- they use a good variety of spells/abilities (calles Artes) and do a good job of keeping themselves alive.

nothing special about LO except the flashbacks. And graphicly it looked like an HD FF XII not impressive at all. But for the limited current gen RPG's it's one of the better I'd say 9/10 based on all Xbox360 rpg's and 5/10 based on all rpg's.

Infinite Undiscovery is a VERY GOOD jrpg game. Don't let some of the opinions here fool you. Listen to someone who has actually played through the entire game =). The voice acting may not be all that great but the Story Line is very solid & the combat system is very well implemented. I will agree though with many here that Lost Odyssey should be your first choice automatically if you're wanting a JRPG. It's the absolute best on the Xbox 360 at the moment.

I'm really liking The Last Remnant. I'm playing it right now, actually. I'm browsing internet forums while I go in and out of an area to make a rare monster spawn. It's not really a necessary thing to do to complete the game, but there's this one sidequest, I've almost done everything else, and I'm a bit of a completionist, so...

I saw it at Target on clearance for $14.99 this afternoon. YMMV. I was going to post that in Hot Deals, but my post count isn't high enough. Anyone wanna help me out with that?

Anyway, the game world feels a lot like Final Fantasy 12. You can tell that some of the same designers were involved. Gameplay is a little different from a standard jrpg -- you control squads of characters in battle instead of single characters, and you don't command the members of the squad individually. You fight battles on a 2-dimensional battlefield, so you have to keep track of where your squads are going to go to attack stuff so that you can keep from getting flanked (and flank your enemies). You don't get the same menu of commands every time. Who is in your squad, what's happening to other squads, whether or not your squad is engaged with an enemy squad, and the condition of your squad all change your available commands. Some people really don't like that they don't know whether the heal command will be up from one turn to the next. You have to plan ahead to make sure the squad you want to heal with will be in a position to have their heal command come up. It's kind of like squad-based Final Fantasy chess. I hope that makes some sense.

The game also gets knocked in reviews for slow load times and texture popping. I found that most of those issues were resolved by installing the game to the hard drive.

The story is pretty typical jrpg save the world stuff, but it does the job. The voiceovers are pretty good. I didn't hate any of the characters; I even actually liked a lot of them, and I wasn't expecting that to be the case in the first hour. So give it a little time before you blow it off if you do decide to try it.
