i have an audigy card. i have my VGA cable attached to the 2-female-to-3.5mm converter (came with the microsoft vga cable). that converter is then attached to a 2-to-1 3.5mm Y splitter. the other input in the Y splitter is my 2.1 klipsch speakers. then the Y splitter goes into my speaker input of my audigy card.

here's the problem. when my xbox 360 is turned on, everything works perfectly. my pc sound is good, my xbox sound is good. however, when my xbox is turned off, my pc sound is bad. my music volume gets cut in half and sound distorted/static-y, and my AIM IM noises (i know they're annoying, but i like them :p) are distorted. as soon as i disconnect the vga sound outputs, everything is good.

my pc is on 24/7, so i don't mind connecting my xbox to the sound card and using the pc speakers, however i dont want my xbox to be on 24/7. anyone have similar problems? any fixes? thanks.
