XBox 360 line status - post yours here!

I'm about to go drive by all the places near me and see what up. I have no intention of camping or standing in line more than an hour but it's kinda a challenge now hehe. I want to see if I can get one without camping, and standing in line less than an hour in the AM.

What is really assanine is that a lot of places don't seem to want to say how many systems they have. So you can stand in line over night and MAYBE get a system? Uhh, yea ok, sign me up for that. I mean why on earth would they not say how many they have? Seems like an asshole thing to do. While Wal-Mart only had 10 locally - which is nothing - at least they said how many they had.

It sounds like Wal-Mart in general didn't get more than 10 or 20 per store - but there are so many Wal-Mart stores that works out to a lot of XBoxes. Some will be out in BFE North Dakota and the Wal-Mart stores in large cities got similar number as the BFE stores.

As far as the pathetic comments, to each his own I say. If people do things that are worthwhile to them but make no sense to others - as long as they're happy and not hurting anyone else, who cares? :) I could probably find better things to do at midnight than prowling the local retail parking lots, I guess I'm a f-a-n-b-o-y f-a-n-b-o-y lol, but it is interesting to me and it's only every 4-5 years we get an XBox launch and this is only the 2nd one ever.

Last (first) XBox launch, I went to the local Best Buy in the AM, stood in line outside for about an hour before they opened with a surprising number of people, got one on the first day. It seems like this launch is much bigger - good for MSFT and retail in general maybe.

yeah what about a parent who is waiting in line because they got a pay bonus and want to get there child something nice for a change, when they couldnt before... how pathetic they are right? to bring a smile to thier childs face

I will be waiting in line. I could spend the money on a new mobo/processor combination that I want, but no...I will probably be standing on Dec 4 (Germany) in line so that the kids can have a good christmas.

There are a bunch of asshole managers out there. They know that they have X number of Xbox360's. They can see that they have X+Y number of people waiting in line. Give out vouchers to the first X number of people in line and send everyone else home. Don't fricking make them wait all night to get nothing. That's how riots start.

A lot of you have the right idea. I'm waiting in line to get my buddy one, and myself one, and I happen to be off tomorrow, so it's really no biggie to be sitting in line while i would be sleeping.

I'm not pathetic, I just took an opportunity to help out a buddy. My younger bro is here to make sure we can get two. We're having some good conversation, and watching van wilder.

There are a lot worse things we could be doing, so pathetic really doesn't equate. If you think what some of us are doing is dumb thats fine. I don't need any life lessons on how I spend my time. The guy next to me took a day off of work so his kids could get a great present for christmas, god what a douche bag he is. Maybe I'll inform him what a loser he is based on some of your observations.

Nobody here is being a douche, everybody is really friendly, we're sharing snacks and talking, and it's really a nice atmosphere. I'm actually enjoying this, a little, as it is cold.

To each their own people, don't be so judgemental. It's not like society is going to crumble because some of us can and choose to wait in line for a piece of consumer electronics.

I have the sudden urge to cruise the local bestbuys and walmarts playing at ear splitting levels some Opera from the car stereo. :p

I would have to agree that the people in line seem very nice and friendly. Stopd by the local walmart to see what they had, 13 boxes. 4 premiums and the rest core. They were giving out tickets to those who showed up. Got there in time for a ticket, however I didnt really want to pick up the core system. As nice as it would have been to ebay that sucker....... I gave up the ticket to the elderly women that was standing behind me in line. Very nice and friendly...she had been waiting to get one for her two grandkids. She was more then happy, and smiled the whole time she was checking out. Yeah another hundo or two in the pocket would be nice, but karma always comes back..........

Then everyone would go home once they got their ticket and come back in the morning. Where would be the fun in that? :p Plus as you said they know exactly how many they had and its very simple to pick up a phone and ask that way they can count people and say "Are you getting one?" then by simple deduction they can determine that they will not be getting one unless someone dies from a stroke in the next couple of hours.

That's a terrible thing to even joke about. Remember, its only a game console.... it will not get you laid.

Is there some window of opportunity where the xbox360 will work, but after a certain date it suddenly won't work?

If you get it a month from now, does that mean you can only play it for 4 months before it self-destructs, and the people waiting in line are doing so to get that extra month of play?

Never met anybody at a halo party, I take it? :)

I agree. I'll be updating this post every hour through the night as I continue to drive by each location - I'll yell and throw trash at those poor pathetic bastards as I drive past. :p

so wait, a person waiting online needs to get a life, yet a person who drives around all night looking at the lines feels as if he has a better life?? why dont u get a life??

if people want to be the first to get the system so be it, wutever floats your boat..

hehehehe, I do hope you knew I was being ironic - I'm happily pathetic :)

I did drive by Circuit City, Costco, Sams, Best Buy and Target around 1:30am. Every place had some people lined up with Best Buy being a frickin HUGE line - no way they have enough systems. It did look like Best Buy left some coffee out for the people, that was nice of them.

Target line was the smallest and they're handing out tickets at 7am - if I stay awake another hour, I may go get in line at Target and see if I can score one - I got nothing else to do but pickup a ham for Thanksgiving today, life is good. ;)

The people at Circuit City seemed sleepy and when I asked them what time the store opened, some guy woke up and said "Xbox" (no shit) and then mumbled 10am. If you're going to wait in line over night, you have to expect oddballs like me driving up, waking your silly ass up to ask questions. Bunch of goofs, sleeping at 1:30am in a parking lot. Lightweights.

There were only 4 people huddled at Sams Club - not sure if they'll have any systems but if they do, I imagine that'd be a good place to score one. That could be one of those deals where you go wait with the other 4 dimwits and you all find out in the morning Sams isn't getting any though hehe. I am certain Target is getting them (talked to them before they closed) and I'm certain they had a good bit more than 10 systems.

My friend pointed out, it would have been kind of entertaining - in a sadistic way - to drive past throwing firecrackers at the line folks about 4am. I'm all out of firecrackers so this wasn't an option. I could go fire a gun in the air but bringing firearms into it would drastically increase the chance of the police giving a shit and coming to arrest me. I've never yet spent Thanksgiving (or any holiday for that matter - horay for me) in jail, no need to start now.

I wonder if anywhere in the US, any high-tech burglars drove around, got license plate numbers off line people, went and looked up addresses and went and robbed houses of people waiting in line. It could happen, you read it here first! :p

talk about over anyalyzing. ^^^

target has 14 from what i heard and 4 premium, rest cores. i went to a local target i used to work at to get the hook up but there were already 6 ladies in line, so i didnt feel like snatching a premium from under them. i asked them how many they were getting and they said all 4 of the premium so im off to find some other store i guess.

sams or sears is my next best place.

was so funny, everywhere had like 2-6premiums and had mad lines of people THINKING THERE GETTING ONE, walmart right next to where i was waiting had 40people in line and only save 2consoles for those w/o vouchers

but people who showed up at sams at 6am, and it opened at 7am got the $450 bundle with extra controller and a play and charge kit, like me.....except i waited from 9pm to 7am,apparently alot of people didnt realise they needed a membership to buy anything in sams period

I just watched a report on the news that said the local Walmart had 11 people in line at ten p.m. last night and only 8 systems to go around for the midnight opening.Unfortunately a bunch of &%^$%$#'s that thought they could show up and cut to the front of the line showed up and started a brawl. The cops were called and the group that started the fight got hauled off to jail.

After that happening, the store said they were now not opening for security reasons and told anyone wanting to, to come back at 7:00a.m. for a shot at a 360 .The news interviewed the manager and he said he had plans to have the police present for the 7:00a.m. opening.

I am damn glad i ordered mine over the net.

Just got back from Walmart, I got a core system. I had showed up at 12am...one other person came about 5 minutes later. I decided that I had a little more time and came back home to do some homework for today, went back at 2am, ended up 6th in line. The store had 8 - 2 premium and 6 core. If I had stayed when I first got there, I would've got what I went for...

lol, we didnt have that here no one in any store would tell anyone anything about launch, and it turns out bestbuy had campers november 19th and gave them tickets and no one would tell any shoppers....gay. Sams gave the most direct answer and it wasnt a free for all like target where at 7am on the dot its a race to the store cause no one can get out of there cars until then

There was already at least a dozen people at my local Best Buy at like 7pm. My friend wanted to go up to the line and say "oh the new season of Queer As Folk must be coming out on DVD" but hes been sick and his voice is a raspy whisper at best. It was cold and rainy and they must have been miserable. They all looked like they were under 20. When we left the store the line was probably up to about two dozen people. Im sorry its just not worth it to me.

I got a Core system from Wal-Mart at 12midnight, then I got a premium system from Sam's Club at 7am.

The thing is, the Core system only boots up every other time. It turns on, then nothing happens. Black screen, no noise, no nothing. Then I turn it off, and turn it back on, and it works just fine. I don't get it. I am returning it tonight after work since it doesn't work every time I turn it on. Anyone else having this problem?

I haven't got to try my premium system yet, I came straight in to work right after I bought it. Hopefully it works correctly all the time, not just half of the time.

I just went to my local Kmart at 7 am. I was the only person until about 20 to 8, which is when they open. It turns out this tiny town that wasn't even sure they were getting the xbox360 on launch day is getting 18 systems! 10 premiums and 8 cores. Problem was their delivery truck was late, so they took names, numbers, and which system we wanted and are going to call me as soon as they come in (the whole situation makes me a bit nervous). Hopefully they'll come through on their offer. Anyways, when I signed up there were only 8 people there so I might be able to snag another one depending on their policy about 1 per customer.
