XBOX 360There are two new rumors floating around about Microsoft’s next generation gaming console. According to The Inquirer, the XBOX 360 will come standard with wireless controllers. Hopefully the battery life will be improved as well. We can probably expect Sony to follow in the same path. The next rumor involves the XBOX 360’s GPU. Of course this information, just like the rest, is not yet confirmed, but here are the specs:

* 24 Pipelines
* 32 Texture Units
* 96 Arithmetic Logic Units (ALU)
* 192 Shader Operations per Cycle
* 700MHz Core
* 134.4 Billion Shader Operations per Second (at 700MHz)
* 256-bit 512MB 1.8GHz GDDR3 Memory
* 57.6 GB/sec Bandwidth (at 1.8GHz)
* 300-350 Million Transistors
* 90nm Manufacturing
* Shader Model 3.0
* ATI HyperMemory
* ATI Multi Rendering Technology (AMR)
* Launch: Q2 2005
* 16x stochastic FSAA
* FP32 blending, texturing
* Programmable Primitive Processor/Tesselator

As you can see, the next XBOX will have a very powerfull GPU. With performance higher than a Radeon X800, we can assume the XBOX 360 to put a very big dent on our wallets.

Not to dump on your post (much), but...

Considering some random guy from the UK owns www.Xbox360.com I am still uncertain that will be it's name. Especially with the names complete lack of meaning (doing a 360 brings you back to where you started). Since Microsoft does own www.xboxnext.com Xbox-Next still seems to be the strongest contender to me.

It should be made doubly clear theses specs are pretty much just pulled out of some random dudes ass, and are for a Videocard, not the Xbox2, with absolutely NO validation. Hell, Microsoft hasn't even officially announced they are WORKING on the Xbox Next (not that they aren't, but I seriously doubt they are going to be releasing the thing in the next 4.5 months without any advertising or official mention of it to this point yet).

Also you can't even get 1.8ghz GDDR3 right now except maybe in just enough quantity for a few test boxes, and even then it would probably technically be stuff built to run at 1.6ghz but which luckily tested as being able to work at 1.8ghz. There is NO CHANCE IN HELL of them starting to mass producing a few million Xbox's anytime in the next 6 months using 1.8ghz GDDR3.

Those specs are RUMORs, floating around various forums claiming to be the R520's specifications.

And the Xbox 2 doesn't even use the R520...

lol what a spam post, this was originally posted by some normal guy that has no idea on the specs and was then circulated around the web. Also your an idiot for posting this as the Xbox 2's graphic card, just look at the specs, (ATI Multi Rendering Technology (AMR)) lol... in an xbox right... and Q2 2005 for launch huh? so its coming out without the xbox? lol... post these rumoured R520 specs somewhere else =o

Even if it was true, all that power....on your fuzzy old tv. hahah

the xbox 2 and ps3 are actually both going to be demoed this year at e3.
so the q2 2005 time frame would be right.
also, wouldnt it make sense to get the chips out before the xbox? since more than likely thats where the short supply will be coming from?
also, whats wrong with AMR, xbox 2 is using an ATI chip.

what is wrong with AMR is the price an XBox would cost with two video cards in there. Sure the thing would travel through time that it is so quick, but that wouldn't make sense distrobutionwise. They had problems with the first xbox and availability, you think they are going to want to make the same mistake two-fold? I dont think so.

MS has made no announcment on the Xbox 2, none... They NEVER stated that it was going to be demo'd or even unveiled. STOP SPREADING RUMORS.

Is it so hard to go to Gamespot or IGN and look up information rather then believing EVERYTHING you read on some random forums/site.

well every big 3 consols makers will showcase something at e3 and sony even made an annoucement stating that they will held a show before e3 about ps3. With the latest link comming from ea games ( you can read about that on ign) some xbox2 software are scheduled for november 2005.

ah man I missed that honey of a rumor!
Heh heh! Dont you read it was posted on this one site somewhere, at some time...google it!! ;)

it's fairly obvious that xbox2 will be shown at e3. granted microsoft didn't say it themselves (EA did), however if they plan to release this year then i think it would be a wise move to unviel the console at e3. btw xbox2 using AMR with a card of that spec? get real...

We have a Jaguar somewhere in the house.. (my roomates acutally) it plays Alien vs Predator, and Tempest 2000 quite well. The Jaguar was Atari's last gasp in the console game.. It would be cool for someone to revive them again I think.. but the market is too cut throat for a small player, it would have to be someone big.. like Phillips or even Walmart to make a go at it.
