I never really thought about this, but maybe it does matter. I hook my Xbox 360 up to my larger LCD's via component (sony 40'' lcd, westinghouse 32'' lcd) and the smaller with VGA (because they're computer monitors, no component)

Neither of my LCD tvs are 1080p, so I always assumed that there was no benefit to going VGA. However, it just occurred to me that it could look better over VGA and both have a VGA port.

Should I start looking for my VGA cable?

Also with the 360, you will get the benefit of upscaling DVDs over VGA. You can't upscale DVD's over component.

It looks great through a VGA connection. Of course my monitor is a 24" LCD monitor but, I tried both component and vga input and it looks the best through VGA. I also have a 22" LCD monitor and it has component input also and it to looks better through VGA. The component still looks good but it looks darker. The VGA connection looks smooth and easier on my eyes when playing Gears of War. Most people will have it hooked up through component since it already came with the cables and don't want to spend $40 more for a VGA cable. Since most LCD/TV resolutions if it's not a 1080P TV will be 1366 x 768. The good thing about VGA connection is you can select various resolutions to fit your screen. There is the 1360 x 768 resolution on the Xbox 360 display setup and when hooked up VGA you can have a higher resolution than if you were to go with component and 1280 x 720P. You can select 1080i in component setup but will only downsize the resolution to 1366 x 768 and will be interlaced. Fast moving video will not be as smooth.
