Xbox 360 and Dell 2005fpw

I have the xbox 360 (premium) already and I'm using it by connecting the two using the composite cable so I'm only getting 480p resolution... I'm at school and I only have my Dell 2005fpw and no HDTV here...

I'm just wondering if I got the VGA HD Video Cable if the display would improve greatly because the display right now is truly agonizing to look at. Would I be able to play it on 720p resolution?

Would I be better off getting one of those Gateway 2185's as it does say its HDTV ready...

Pretty much, I would like to find the best options I have to play the xbox without having a HDTV available...

You would be able to get 720P by connecting via VGA.

It may still stretch, however.
 
Theres an official VGA cable for the Xbox 360, I dont think you need that transcoder.

If you get a VGA cable and hook it up, make sure to tell us all the details! and post pics!

We've seen how amazing it looks on a 2405, but not the 2005FPW...

Im tempted to buy the 2005FPW instead of a HDTV (I never watch TV anyway, and im sure i could hook up a digibox somehow), im really tempted to get the 2405, but think thats a little too expensive..

EDIT: Oh and you could tell us what the max res the xbox can output is with the VGA cable.. ive seen 13xx*something or other, but I have also seen MS slides that sat 1920*1080(or close). Im hoping it has the option for 1680*1050

OMG! I'm gonna f-ing cry. The coupon worked, and I retyped it in IE cause FireFox is on the frits, and coupon has ended. I went back to FF and my cart is empty. This was going to be a Christmas present for me... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
 
Please post pics of the xbox 360 and the 2005fpw.. I'm very interested in getting this monitor for the xbox 360 (with vga adapter).

I would like to see this as well, I don't have a high def tv and won't for a couple of months and I'd like to run it on my 2005fpw. Only thing that sucks is how to get the sound to some speakers. Is there a headphone jack on it by any chance?
 
As much as I want to take pictures of my xbox 360 setup on my monitor... I cant as I lent my parents my camera before they went off to their trip...

I'll probobly be buying the VGA cable tommorow after my exam, and I'll see if I can get my hands on one by then. But as of right now, Kameo looks terrible in 480p and I would expect all others to as well...

great! even if you dont have a camera can you take a look at the xbox / dell2405 thread, and then comapre them. keep us updated!

Oh! and importantly, you will be able to tell us what resolutions the Xbox 360 can output, the highest ive seen in a screenshot is 1366*something, but a MS presentation showed 1920*1080, so if you are lucky it may output 1680*1050! (the dells native resolution)

so if it can indeed output 1680x1050 is that high definition? I'm a bit confused with what exactly high definition is.

to be Hi-def (720p) then the resolution has to be over 1280x720.

super dooper hi-def (1080i) is 1920x1080. but the xbox outputs 720p and just resizes it for the screen.

the 1680x1050 is fine,a nd plays hi-def.
 
So did anybody ever get the VGA cable for the xbox 360 and hook it up to a Dell 2005fpw? If so what resolutions can the xbox 360 output in VGA mode?

I have the Vdigi VGA transcoder and with Soul Calibur 2 I get quite a bright image. Should I shell out the money for the Microsoft VGA cable? I'd love to see some pictures with the 360 using the VGA cable on the 2005.

Yes I would like to see my shots of a xbox360 w/vga on a Dell 2005fpw. Please somebody hook it up!
 
I would love if someone with the 2005FPW could post a pic of xbox 360 running on it. This would definitaly seal the deal for me whether or not to upgrade to 2450.
