XBOX 360 65nm conversion

I read a few months ago that the xbox 360 will be going through an overhaul and will now be using the 65nm processors starting in Q1 2007....but since then I havent seen a damn thing about it in any news....any one got a clue whats going on?
 
This same question has been asked several times on this forum.

The easy answer to this is "probably, but no one knows for sure." I think that soon we will see 65nm processors but who knows when. For now I'll not worry about it and stick with the one I got. The only difference is going to be lower CPU temps, that's about it.

Yeah and probably the price drop they been promising us that will happen in 2007. Maybe HD DVD or that rumored 100 gig hard drive will be built into the system, but that is hoping alot.

I think we'll see larger HDs, 65nm, and a modest price drop ($50 or so) sometime in the first half of 2007.

I don't forsee MS putting an HD-DVD drive in the Xbox. It brings them too close to the PS3 as far as pricing goes. They'd be better off offering a larger HD and dropping the price, making the PS3 look even worse in the process.
 
I'm gonna be mad if they release a 100GB HDD and I have no way to get my stored data over to there :p

Heck, I'll be upset since I just bought the 20gb and the 100 would be available so soon! Wonder what it'll cost as a standalone?

Im going to guess 120ish

Anything higher than 150 would be a total ripoff and even then 150 is pushing it IMO.

Going off topic but since its kinda on the subject, is there a way to put music on the hard drive without putting it on a CD first. I been streaming it, but would like to make some playlists and the music needs to be on the hard drive for that.

As it is I don't even think I'll use up my 20GB HDD. Only thing on there are game updates and BK pictures. Even at the 13.9 GB or whatever it is when it comes brand new I've only used like 30 or so megs.
 
Microsoft must be making a killing on the hard drives, so I hope they can release a larger one for the same price range, and make that standard, and then maybe include the 20GB in the Core.

Also, aren't they planning to release larger memory cards? These don't matter much anymore unless you don't play online at all, and don't need the massive storage of the hard drive.

I doubt Microsoft will put in an HD-DVD into the 360. It would be smarter for them to make another bundle that includes it and give a small discount to make it still cheaper than the PS3 60GB, and better if they add in a larger hard drive to make it more competitive.

True im like you. But with the new TV show and movie market thingy, im sure there will be alot of people itching for bigger. Then again with TV shows you can delete them and still own it and movies only last 24 hours from play or 14 days. Im sure there are still alot of people who need bigger.
 
Considering the low bandwidth of my connection I would hate to download a 1.6GB movie :p

Normally it wouldn't be a problem but I'm running XBL through a wireless bridge that has very low bandwidth but high latency. Great for gaming, TERRIBLE for downloads! But for me it's just right.
 
When the 65nm 360s come out I will buy one. Hopefully they do include a larger HDD. And I will have a nice list of games to play:
Gears of War
Lost Planet
DoA4
Dead Rising
Mass Effect

Except they can't even make 150GB laptop hard drives yet (and the 360 uses laptop-size HDDs), so no way there's going to be a 400GB anytime soon.

I'm gonna venture to guess that if they do release a larger drive it will be around 60GB. The reason is that movies are "rentals" and not permanent and other things can be re-downloaded if you delete. Also to keep costs down for them and the consumer..
 
I still don't understand why ms won't add usb support. as it's so u can spend a 100 more on the premium 360?

There is USB support, just not for movie downloads and such, it is not to lock you into their system. It is so they can wash their hands of piracy concerns.
