xbox 360 - 1/4 red ring

Hey All,

I have the opportunity to buy an Xbox 360 that is currently displaying a single quadrant of the red ring as red. (hardware failure i guess). The xbox is covered by an extended warranty bought via walmart.

Is this gonna be hard to have fixed?

Only 50 bucks...so seems like a deal since i can have it fixed for free.
 
I'd do it.
Wether they replace it on spot, or send it out for a few weeks, i'd still do it for 50 bucks.

As long as it comes with all required necessities, ie: power brick, controller, etc....
and the warranty sticker is intact.
 
would this be covered by the new 3 year Microsoft warranty or is that only for full red rings?

Depends what the error code says when it comes up - I just sent in another one of mine yesterday with E72. You can do it entirely on the website without calling them - it's pretty easy - even printing out the shipping label - no cost anywhere in there for mine since E72 1 red light (General Hardware Failure) is covered by the 3 year now.

My one regret in the whole thing was not thinking until today that I should have packaged it up in my PS3 slim box when I sent it in for repair.

That's a tough one - I haven't sent one in in a couple years and the last time I sent it in I bought a new one for the HDMI anyway. I read fairly mixed reports on it when I was googling the very same question yesterday. I'm not expecting mine back any time soon. The shipping to and from Mesquite TX from the great frozen north here alone will comprise a week at least.
