I know that the release date for Xbox2 is somewhere around late 2005 and early 2006, but when do you think the Xbox2 console will REALLY come out?

Thanks!

Sorry mods, I thought that the xbox was hardware. :(

So late 2006 sounds more like it?

This is good/bad news...

I have been thinking of getting an xbox for $149, so this means that I wouldn't be buying for only a year, I'd be enjoying it for 2-2 1/2 years before it was not used much. I'm gonna buy it! :D

I was just on WalMart.com and it said that Halo2 will be shipped on 08/02/04 if you preorder it. Is this true? Is that set in stone yet?

I wouldn't go by any date more specific than Fall/Winter 2004 to be honest. It'll be out in time for christmas.

Are you serious?
They havn't even started the serious delovpment yet, they just recently in the past 4 months started the prototype. I know its houseing the IBM PowerPC 970 chip aka (G5). And something like a ridculous amount of ram, and even a possiblity of dual procs. Its definitly gonna be a awsome system.

I also heard that Halo 2 might be held until Xbox 2.

I feel, and so do many others, that it will drop right before PS3 hits in Fall of 2005 before christmas.

The fall/winter 2004 was for Halo 2.;)

G5? I thought they hadn't confirmed which CPU it was using beyond one that IBM fabbed. That means a couple.

In the April issue of CPU magazine, there's a small article about how the XBox 2 will be ready for launch in fall 2005, and it'll have three PowerPC processors like the Apple G5 processors (although might not be exactly a G5 chip). It's also supposed to pack an ATi designed R500 graphics chip, but the actual chips made from the designs will be done by some other chipmaker Microsoft is planning to contract.
