Xbitlabs roundup

Excellent review. Very comprehensive.

The 1900xtx vs 7900gtx trade blows left and right, but what's interesting is that in a lot of games, the 1900xtx has a considerably higher minimum framerate, like not something you can just disregard. In most of the benches though, the 7900gtx had the higher average.

The 1900xt pretty much kicks the 7900gt's butt in every benchmark, but one thing is certainly left out - was the 7900gt a factory overclocked version, or a basic 450mhz Nvidia core? This is kind of a big thing since you can buy 7900gt's from the factory inbetween 500 and 560mhz, which greatly improves their performance. I'll be very curious when the 7950gt comes out with 512mb of ram and a 550mhz core. Seems like a very strong contendor, plus it will push 7900gt prices down. Woot! <3 competition.

I didn't really pay much attention to the low end stuff, but the 7600GT looked like it wiped the competition clean.

Another decent review, shame they didnt get prey working with sli, the drivers with working profile have been available for weeks, same with titan quest... They must have done these a while ago or they just don't test beta drivers..

I think it was a wonky review. Oftentimes their card pairings make no sense whatever. For example, in premium they bench CF and SLI, plus single 1900XTX and 7900GTX.

Then in "high end" they again include the 7900GTX..yet from ATI only the X1900XT..what sense does that make? Why is an Nvidia card included in two different catagories yet the ATI counterpart is not? What is the reasoning of that?

I have also noticed Xbit consistently shows Nvidia winning almost all benchmarks for their reviews for some time now. I think their is some sort of bias going on but I cant figure out what but just, the chipsets they use or something. Anand just had a review that showed a X1900GT mopping the floor with a 7900GT..yet Xbit always shows the reverse..I dont understand.

Benching with an FX-60 doesn't cut it anymore either. Need to use one of the new Intel's to remove CPU limits.

They also benched with Cat 6.6..ATI is up to 6.8 I believe, with a lot of performance improvements.

A lot depends on the pairings. Anand put the X1900XT in with the 7900GT, which as far as I know makes sense on price. In that case the XT is going to do very well.

I wouldn't say that. They seemed pretty even IMO. As for my actual experience, the 7900GT I have now leaves me wanting more. The IQ and speed cannot compete w/ my previous X1900XT. It's worth noting however that I have not OCed my 79GT at all. And that I had OCed the X1900XT past XTX speeds.

I'm actually torn right now between returning my dying GT for another...or going with Big Red. :D

Why havent you overclockied the GT? there crazy overclockers especially with decent 3rd party coolers.. gtx speeds at least.. probably higher if you got the balls to push it. :p
