My core won't go any high than 545 stable (can run 3dmark05, but can't game for extended periods) and my Mem hits 610. This is a pretty wretched core overclock i think. Anything i can do? Any tricks that i don't know?

yeah you need to get a handle on the heat if you're having issues in that arena. a zalman (or compairable) cooler will ditch all the excess heat that stock coolers sometimes choke on. that way you'll be able to find the voltage limits of your core vs. the heat limits. good luck.

Although every card is the different, there are three factors:

1. The card itself.
2. Cooling.
3. Volt Modding

Don't do 3, unless you have gotten 2 covered. I can't quite remember but I think on water cooling and w/o vmods I was able to get around 570 from my old x850xt and around 610 from the mem. As it stands right now, you're card is a bit better than a Platinum Edition 540/590.

My temps are pretty damn high. 93c on a load. In the middle of the day when my room is 95Fahrenheit they wil hit 98c and it the ATI fan will rev up until the temsp go back down. I use a Freezer 64 for my CPU and love it, so i was thinking about getting the Arctic cooling silencer AT5 Rev 2 gpu cooler and using AS5 with it. from reviews it seems to drop load temps from 92c to 60 or so. PRetty impressive. Any opinions on this cooler? Would any volt mods be possible w/out water?

Your room is 95F??? ummmm.. stop spending money on computers and buy an AC unit!! Welcome to the world of modern convenience!

Hey dont pick on Fatal1ty products they are good quality :D and your just jealous  .

Sorry everyone else  .

the problem isnt temps...remember the only difference between the X850XT and the PE version is that they hand picked those cores that could be easily overclocked to the higher values. So when you get the regular X850XT, you are getting a core that isnt excellent at overclocking. I have the same problem with mine. If you ask people with PE's you will see them getting better results.

That is kind of what i figured too. If i run my fan at 100% override i get the maxes in the sig. So heat must have something to do with it. I ordered the Arctic cooling Silencer today so i can run those settings constantly w/out the noise.
I guess i will never hit 7000 though.
Farcry and BF2(64 person servers) both run at 1600x1200x32 with full AA and AF smooth as glass though. So i am pretty happy.

yeh heat is a big factor too...and i dont see why people upgraded from 6800ultras and x850xt pe's for BF2, when they play it fine at 1600x1200 with everything maxed...
