Purchased a X850XT GDDR3 AGP GPU have been an ATI Fan for a long time owned 9600PRO 128DDR 9800PRO also never had any problems out of any of them until now. I am an avid BF2 player and expected big things from this card... needless to say i am not impressed at all. I have poked around the net to find other ppls screen shots on different cards and the same one that i have just to see if it was just me .. Yet i notice ppl with the same card have better image quality ?????? this has stumped me seeing that i have adjusted every known option in the Catalyst control center for Optimal Quality yet i can not match other quality screen shots i have seen. Which leads me to Nvidia 7800 GT and GTX. I have looked up some images for these cards and i am astounded in the quality Diff that i am seeing. .... ** Thinks its time to switch teams  ** with the 7800 GT somewhat comparable the the X850XT i noticed the options difference offered with the two cards NVIDIA being the one offering tons more options and settings geared toward game quality unlike ATI which seems to be more toward video quality with few game detail options. If anyone has any suggestions they are more than welcome !

NVIDIA
CineFX 4.0 engine
Intellisample 4.0
UltraShadow II Technology
Shader Model 3.0
HDR ( High Dynamic Range )

ATI
3Dc ( Rarley seen unless launch in suported by ATI ) EX: Tribes Vengance
SmartShader HD
Hyper Z - optimize available memory bandwidth
VideoShader™ HD
Shader 2.0 ???? why not 3.0

Below i have screen shots taken within the BF2 game using Fraps with my ATI X850XT maxed out 1600x1200 85Hz and within the game all settings on their max .
( i understand *.Jpeg is not a good format to use )

You have issues with software, my card looks fine... and you clearly don't have FSAA enabled.

Those shots are ugly as hell, both cards look like crap. Its not the card its a driver issue/software.

sorry but those screenshots look ugly!! it doesnt look like you have af/aa enabled...when playing it with my x850xt pe it looks sooo much better...i think its a software related problem...try removing your previous drivers with driver cleaner and putting on the newest cats 5.13

I went back into the settings and looked im telling ya its all turned on the pictures are going to look a little haggard unless you DL em to your desktop usually IE will resize em and make them look distorted .

Sorry dude. Maybe you have AA turned off in the ATI control panel or something, but it's obviously (OBVIOUSLY) not enabled in those screenshots.

I don't use IE, I use Firefox, and I know what non-bicubic resizing looks like.

The X850XT is actually comparable to the 6800 Ultra.... The 7800 series spanks it.

He might be referring to price. X850XT *is* ~ 7800GT in price.

But, in any case, it's irrelevant, as he can't just "switch teams" to the 7800GT. He has an AGP based system, so unless he's comfortable taking PCs apart and putting them together (doesn't sound like it), he'd need to buy an entirely new PC with a PCI-E slot instead of AGP to get any better card than the one he has.

With recent drivers, the X850XT has pulled ahead of the 6800 Ultra handily in most titles.

So...basically, to the OP, the card you have IS the absolute best card you can buy for your current PC. Which is fine, as it really shouldn't look like that - something is very obviously messed up in your control panel (or in-game) settings. Once you get that straightened out, I'm sure you'll be plenty happy with that card.

If NOT...well, you'll need a new PC.

You know that temporal aa alternates the aa betwen each frame.
And for temporal aa to work ju must run the game with vsync, and if you expect the 850 to keep above 85 fps with those settings, you bought the wrong card.

edit: turn of temporal, just use normal aa, you will get pretty screenshots but it will be unplayable.

I dont mind tearing into the Rig i built the thing ;) and i can switch over if i liked they have options. I could use a hybrid Mobo that has the option then down the line i could switch the PCI-E if i choose. Allowing me to use the AGP card for now.

Yes i was looking at the cost comparison between the models that i posted, not the SPEC
and options for the cards being that the X850 XT is still near $400 comparable with the 7800 line.

NV http://www.manticoreinc.com/tech/product_info.php?products_id=227

I installed the new Catalyst 5.13 drivers after a complete uninstall and driver cleaning.
I have a few new screen shots posted below at 1600x1200 85Mhz

I know these images dont do the card any justice but opened with a picture viewer it makes it look alot better at least to me it does . And i made sure all setting in the catalyst were configured along with all the in game options to make sure everything was set to the right config.
