Hello all,

I have a bit of a problem, everytime I try and launch a game my system reboots. It is a newly built system, the components are al follows.

Proc.- Pentium D 820
MB - Intel D945psn
Ram - 1 gb Patriot ddr2 667
Video- ATI x850xl

The games it has done it for thus far have been CS-Source and BF 2, it also does it during the ati overclocking utility. I am unable to check the temps at the time of the error as it just drops out. In BF2 it does it right before entering a game, in CS it does in the menu screen. It would appear that it is a video problem as prime 95 can run all day with 0 errors.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Whats the PSU? Sounds like your system freaks when the video card goes to draw power for the graphics display.

Or, you may need to update your drivers.

Im using the 6.2 drivers my PSU is an Antec 350w, this could be the problem. I have a raptor and another HDD. I would think that 350w would be enough to handle this, but I could be wrong. What is the how much more power does a videocard pull at load?

Tried running the system with the 2nd HDD and cdrom unplugged. It still smoked itself when I clicked "options" in HL2. So my uneducated assumption would be that power consumption is not the cause.
